Soiree

The night air is crisp but not too cold as you step out of your car.  The sky is an indigo blue, just after dusk, and the stars barely gleam through the sky.  Soon they will be sparkling. You hear the click of your heels as you walk with your date, arm in arm, up the steps under the decorative arch to the front door.  The house is a Queen Ann Victorian. The large wooden door with ornate panels opens into a large foyer with cherry wood paneling and roses carved out of wood for accents.  The host holds out her hand to greet you.  You extend yours in response, revealing a beautiful sterling silver solitaire ring, containing a light blue topaz, the color of early morning sky. She asks about it.  You raise your eyebrows with a coy smile, and begin to tell her.
